Thameslink
Thameslink provides a unique north-south rail service
through the heart of London. This service began with the
re-opening of the Snow Hill Tunnel under Central London
in 1989 and ran as part of British Rail until being
franchised in March 1997.
Services from Bedford in the north, through London
stopping at five major London stations - King's Cross
Thameslink, Farringdon, City Thameslink, Blackfriars and
London Bridge. We link directly with ten London
Underground stations providing passengers with
fast connections not only to the very busy City
of London, but also to the bright lights of London's
West End. Thameslink also serves stations as far south
as Brighton and also provides a frequent commuter service
for the South London suburban area on the
Streatham - Wimbledon - Sutton line.
Also on our route are two important airports.
Thameslink is the main rail connection for London
Luton Airport via Luton Airport Parkway station.
In the south, Thameslink trains serve Britain's
second largest airport - Gatwick - with up to
four trains an hour from London.
