    Cabinet War Rooms and Churchill Museum

    Shortly after becoming Prime Minister in May 1940, Winston Churchill visited the Cabinet War Rooms to see for himself what preparations had been made to allow him and his War Cabinet to continue working throughout the expected air raids on London. It was there, in the underground Cabinet Room, he announced 'This is the room from which I will direct the war'.

    Clock Museum

    The clock museum is situated within the Guildhall Library building (Aldermanbury, London EC2) and is open Monday to Saturday 9.30am - 4.45pm. The collection was begun in 1814 and is the oldest collection specifically of watches and clocks in the world. It represents the fruits of years of research, planning, conservation and acquisitions by the Clockmakers' Company.

    Freud Museum

    The Freud Museum, at 20 Maresfield Gardens in Hampstead, was the home of Sigmund Freud and his family when they escaped Nazi annexation of Austria in 1938. It remained the family home until Anna Freud, the youngest daughter, died in 1982. The centrepiece of the museum is Freud's library and study, preserved just as it was during his lifetime.

    Sherlock Holmes Museum

    Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson lived at 221b Baker Street between 1881-1904, according to the stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The house was last used as a lodging house in 1936 and the famous 1st floor study overlooking Baker Street is still faithfully maintained as it was kept in Victorian Times.

    Tower of London Royal Armouries

    HM Tower of London, one of the most famous buildings in the world, was constructed following the Norman conquest in the 11th century to dominate London. The Royal Armouries is responsible for all the displays in the White Tower, the central keep of the castle complex, and for researching and recording the history of the Tower and the many institutions which have grown up there. Our displays contain many of the examples of royal arms and armour in the Royal Armouries collection, including armours of Henry VIII, Charles I, Charles II and James II. They also reconstruct many of the historical displays of arms and armour for which the Tower is famous, including the Grand Storehouse which was destroyed by fire in 1841.

    Aberdeen Maritime Museum

    Ashmolean Museum

    The Ashmolean Museum of Art and Archaeology is a museum of the University of Oxford. Founded in 1683, it is one of the oldest public museums in the world.     Beaulieu Motor Museum

    THE NATIONAL MOTOR MUSEUM Few car museums in the world can match the unique collection of the world renowned National Motor Museum at Beaulieu.     Beaulieu Abbey

    Beaulieu Abbey was founded in 1204 by Cistercian monks on land given to them by King John. Although much was destroyed at the time of the Dissolution of the Monasteries during the reign of Henry VIII, there is still much for visitors to see today.

    Bletchley Park National Codes Centre

    During World War II the German armed forces' top secret codes were broken at Bletchley Park, providing the Allies with vital information towards their war effort. Situated 50 miles North-West of London, Bletchley played host to a diverse group of code breakers. Among the ciphers that were broken were Enigma and Lorenz.

    Bradford Industrial Museum

    Bradford’s Industrial Museum has permanent displays of textile machinery, steam power, engineering and motor vehicles, along with an exciting exhibitions programme. You can enjoy the splendour of the Mill Owner’s House, or visit the more humble Mill-workers’ terraces. Moorside Mills is also home to the museum’s team of working horses.

    Bracken Hall Countryside Centre and Museum

    The Centre has displays relating to the natural history, geology, archaeology and local history of the area. The colourful interactive wildlife exhibits delve into the lives of badgers, frogs and bats, and tanks contain a variety of local water creatures and mini-beasts. There are interactive displays about other animals and foodwebs.

    Bucks County Museum

    Cliffe Castle Museum

    The house is now a large museum with a wide variety of displays.     Manchester Museum

    The Manchester Museum collections number almost 6 million specimens and objects. These collections are divided between the Humanities (Anthropology, Archaeology, Archery, Egyptology and Numismatics) and the Natural Sciences (Botany, Mineralogy, Palaeontology, Petrology and Zoology, which includes Entomology). Like most museums we are only able to display a tiny percentage of our collection, the remainder is kept in store for use in research, temporary exhibitions and other public programmes.     Mary Rose

    The Mary Rose is based in the city of Portsmouth, in the county of Hampshire on the south coast of England. The Mary Rose is one of three historic ships based in Portsmouth and further visitor information, including details of ticket prices and opening hours, can be obtained from Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

    Merseyside Maritime Museum

    We run free tours of the museum with various themes on the first and third Wednesday of each month from 10.30 to 12.30. Your guide will be a member of site staff with a unique insight into the work of the Museum store. These tours must be booked in advance. Groups of 15 or more can book guided tours at other times, subject to staff availability. The cost for group visits is £5 per person (£2 Concessions).
