Suffolk is full of history including the plotting of Magna Carta in 1215, and a monastery in Bury St. Edmunds founded in 630AD. earlier archaeological evidence of Mesolithic man as far back as c.7000BC. There are also Flint mines dating back over 5,000 years and Roman, Bronze and Saxon settlements have been unearthed. There is even a burial ground of the Anglo-Saxon pagan kings .
Newmarket is famous as the headquarters of British horse racing with large number of training yards close to and round the racecourse. Newmarket hosts a number of classics including the 1,000 Guineas and the 2,000 Guineas.
